The Croats share the Adriatic Sea with the Italians but the Czechs have the Moravian Adriatic solely to themselves. Visit the Vranov Reservoir and you will understand why it has earned this nickname. Plus you will find the lovely surroundings of the Podyjí National Park.

Go on a trip to one of the Czech Republic’s warmest and cleanest reservoirs. It is easy to get to the beach in Vranov by bus from Vranov or Bítov. You can enjoy the holiday backdrop over a drink right on the surface of the reservoir, in the Pařník bar. Or you can have fun on a toboggan, a pedal boat and so on. It is like at the seaside here, the beaches are sandy with a gradual transition into the water. And as the water is so warm, the swimming season is unusually long for local conditions, from early June to mid-September.
Because of the sandy beaches, we definitely recommend a swim at the beginning of your trip, or you might also try windsurfing. You can rent equipment for everything here, no need to bring anything but your swimsuit. After your plunge, you can continue with your journey. Follow the green tourist marker along the Clary’s Circuit to the town of Vranov. If you have young kids with you, you can take a tourist train from the dam. It will take you to the town centre.
And then? The fairy-tale Vranov nad Dyjí Chateau surrounded by the lush greenery of the Podyjí National Park. You may know it from films and fairy tales because filmmakers from the Czech Republic and abroad like to shoot here. The chateau is one of the most precious secular structures of the Baroque style in Central Europe. Remember that you can get to the chateau by following the blue tourist trail.
This is a relatively short trip, but it will take you a whole day. You definitely won’t like to go back home...
