Step into the Butterfly Paradise right next to the municipal office in Ždánice. You will be accompanied by eighty-four species of butterflies at the beginning of summer. You will not find a bigger concentration of colourful wings in the Czech Republic. The nature trail leads through a unique biotope full of old fields and balks.
The butterflies will lead you from a meadow among oaks. But what oaks! The crowns of these stout giants have risen up here for several centuries. The paths like something out of a fairy tale will take you to the Oříšek (Nut) crossroads. Join the other nature trail here, which will show you the Ždánický Les (Ždánice Forest) in its entire beauty. Forget the rush! Enjoy tranquillity, rustling trees, birdsong and beautiful views.
Do not miss Palánek! This viewpoint is situated at an ancient hillfort and the yellow tourist marker will take you back to Ždánice. The local chateau is the seat of Vrbas Museum, which can answer many tricky questions. What does General Laudon have in common with Ždánice? Was there oil here long ago? How loud does the clock mechanism of the local church tick? Does a water mill or a wind mill rotate more quickly?
Reward yourself with something sweet at the end of the trip! The Ždánice area is famous for the brittle desserts called trubičky and kremeše. Is your mouth watering? Make a stop at the Symonie confectionery, where they know how to satisfy those who have a sweet tooth!
