You will not have to walk long distances in Boskovice, the longest journey is from the train station to the centre along the green hiking trail. Arrange a tour of the Jewish quarter with the information centre. Before you go sightseeing, climb up the Town Hall tower. After one hundred and six stairs, you will be rewarded by a breathtaking view of the town and its surroundings.
The information centre of the Boskovicko region offers three sightseeing tours of the Jewish quarter, one of the most significant centres of Jewish settlement in Moravia and a place where important families were born and lived (Löw-Beer, Eisler, Ticho, etc.). The major synagogue accessible to the public, the mikveh ritual Jewish bath and the Jewish municipal house have been preserved in this quarter with a rich history.
You can see the exteriors even without a guide; the Jewish quarter is accessible without any limitations from the outside. Is it time to have some refreshments? KaKaBu Café with its fine aromas of coffee can be found next to the synagogue.
You can look forward to a pearl of the Empire period in Moravia: Boskovice Chateau. It is one of the most beautiful chateaux in the Czech Republic and it has maintained its purity of style to this day. A large variety of rare plants grow in the chateau’s English-style park. The area is part of the historical heritage of the Mensdorff-Pouilly family, which maintains the chateau and even lives in a part of it.
Discover Boskovice Castle, the place where the lords with a seven-tooth comb in their coat-of-arms come from. Of this huge building, only a torso of the castle palace with a view of the picturesque landscape in its surroundings has been preserved. A twenty-six-metre deep well with a wooden treadwheel was dug there and its mechanism is the only one still functional in the Czech Republic. You can get to the castle from the chateau by following the red tourist marker or by going along the Hradní Okruh (Caste Circuit) nature trail.
