From the train stop in Adamov, the yellow hiking trail of the Nový Hrad (New Castle) circuit leads to a majestic memorial to this famous Czech poet. Before you read some extracts from his works and funny inscriptions in the peak book, you will have ascended two hundred vertical metres over less than five kilometres. However, the view from the monument is really worth taking the effort. You will be able to see as far as Pálava!
Continue along the red hiking trail to the signpost and monument called Hradská Lesní Silnice (Castle Forest Road) and then to the right, where you will join bike trail No. 5119. Another three hundred metres and you will come to the yellow tourist trail, which will lead you to Josefov. The slight descent ends near the spring of Jedovnický Potok (Jedovnický Stream). Then you will be guided by the blue tourist trail – the valley of the Křtiny stream hides many treasures. They include the Jáchymka Cave which is freely accessible to the public. Here ice dwarfs are formed in winter. You will go past Švýcárna, run by an ecological leisure centre. And there is a forest bar! Enjoy here some delicacies and do not hesitate to contribute to the operation of the bar. Energy levels replenished? Head towards Stará Huť (Old Smeltery), a national cultural heritage site. The route along the meandering river will take you to Adamov.
Can you manage one more view? If it is open, we can recommend the Alexander’s Lookout Tower, which you can easily reach by following the green hiking trail from the square. Drahanská Highland and Pálava will open up in front of you and if the visibility is excellent, you can even see as far as the Alps. Head up to the sky!
