You can find blueprint (a historical resist-dyeing method for textiles) among the treasures of the UNESCO intangible heritage list since 2018. The blueprint in Olešnice has been maintained by the Danzinger family for over two centuries.
Dying linen and later cotton with indigo is an ancient technique. The white pattern is created using a wooden mould or by hand painting. The canvas is then dipped in paint and then in an acidic solution which reveals the original white print. The hand-cut moulds have been carefully restored and maintained by already the fourth generation of the Danziger family from Olešnice as proof of traditional folk craftsmanship.
In the picturesque house with a workshop, you can see the moulds, peek under the covers of the printing technology and learn a lot about family and local traditions. You probably won't be able to resist buying a tasteful souvenir and some products with blueprint in the shop.
