Deep deciduous forests where bandits rampaged a long time ago, full of rare plants and a home to many animals now. A place which entices you to go for a walk and find harmony.
Ždánický Les highlands start south-east of Brno. The highlands offer an unforgettable view of the Slavkov battlefield to the north, in the direction of Brno, of the lowland in Moravian Slovenia in the south, and of the lovely silhouette of the Pálava Hills.
Ždánice Forest is a flat highland with an area of 470 square kilometres with the highest peak U Slepice, 438 metres above sea level. Around it you will see a large number of monuments and memorials, a reminder of the fighting during World War II.
To this day, valuable grassy and herbaceous communities with the military orchid and other rare plants have been preserved on the deforested slopes of the southern foothills. The forest cover is inhabited by wild boars, red deer and other beautiful animals.
When you make a trip to this region, find the nature trail through the Ždánice Forest. This area has been declared a nature park. Ecological activities with the goal of protecting the beautiful local forests are currently in progress. The forests’ composition and natural development which had formed over hundreds of years were criminally disrupted by disproportionate forest exploitation in the 1980s. Come here and see the self-healing power of nature.
