Starý Poddvorov is in the region of folk traditions, good wine and warm people. And there is a beautiful windmill not far from there. Would you like to go on a night tour?
After walking about three kilometres from Starý Poddvorov in the direction of Čejkovice, you will come to a hill where a windmill of the German type is located. Dating back to 1870 and made entirely of wood, it is set in a wine region full of vineyards and fruit trees which are carefully tended.
This place is beautiful and visitors will feel great here. The old mill knowingly looks over the landscape below it. Thanks to the ingenious construction of the unit, the whole mill revolved so that the blades were always on the windy side. Despite its great weight, the whole building was easy to turn! It became a national monument shortly after the Velvet Revolution.
The mill has undergone several modifications and its current appearance dates from 2003, when a thorough general renovation took place. If you go on a tour, you will see how the ancestors of the Czechs processed the products they relied on for their daily sustenance. Even after dark! The newly installed lighting shows the mill from a different perspective and supports the atmosphere in a romantic way. The mill is open from July to September, so make some time and come to see it at the weekend.
