The Tourist Information Centre set in a historic house is not only a fine sight to behold, but it will also provide you with information. The town has a nice historical centre with a Renaissance town hall and a chateau where Napoleon himself spent the night. Today it hosts the Museum of the Vyškov Region where you can learn about ethnography and the local folk pottery, popular with collectors.
Visitors approach the Zoo Park Vyškov across the chateau’s park. It is not a large zoo but rather a laid-back park with a smaller number of animals, which are very popular with children – you can even see cute lemurs here, but the zoo focuses mainly on domestic animals typical both for the Czech Republic and elsewhere. It does not sound like something very unique, does it? But seeing such a large number of hens and rabbits of all sizes, colours and shapes at one place really is unique!
Special DinoExpress trains go from the zoo across town to the DinoPark, which is a part of the zoo. We could write whole pages enthusing about the DinoPark here, so it would be better if you go and see it for yourselves. In addition to seeing the giant lizards, you may take a ride on an adrenaline cableway above their heads.
The town has an observatory for fans of science and technology (it is surrounded by the DinoPark), where you can admire the night sky. There is also the Museum of Aeronautical and Ground Equipment, which can be found on the premises of the Vyškov Airport. Military equipment from several generations and parts of planes which crashed during World War II. will delight anyone interested in aviation.
If the weather is good, end the day at the relaxing swimming pool in Luleč, which is nicknamed U Libuše. And if you are fond of water slides, head for the aquapark in Vyškov.
