Even a technical building can be beautiful and fascinating. Visit a large snow-white mill which will show you milling from prehistory to the present day.
Slup (which was known as Čule in the Middle Ages) is situated in South Moravia, near the border with Austria, 12 kilometres from Znojmo. This remarkable Renaissance building has four functional water wheels and you can also see a millstream. The Technical Museum in Brno has taken the mill under its patronage, renovated it and modified the entire site and its interiors.
You can go on a tour inside the mill, where an original installation will help you understand the whole milling process. Even the building itself is spectacular and beautiful as regards its architecture. The thirty-kilometre long Krhovicko-Jaroslavický millstream dating back to the 14th century, on which the mill lies, is a technical monument. The Technical Museum in Brno won the first place in the Gloria Musaealis competition for the local exhibition Development of Milling.
