Thirty kilometres long and with a lovely beach, this reservoir is one of the warmest and cleanest in the Czech Republic, with the wonderful Baroque chateau Vranov nad Dyjí looking at it from a hill. It is the “Moravian Adriatic” where it is possible to swim from early June to mid-September. Make a trip to the photogenic Bítov Castle nearby and you will be making a huge mistake if you don’t explore the romantic Cornštejn castle ruins, too. You can also enjoy geocaching because there are dozens of treasures hidden right above the Vranov Reservoir.
You can use regular ship transport or sightseeing cruises on steamboats to make a trip across the reservoir. There are plenty of things to see: the shores are lined with wild rocks in the wild greenery of the national park where old castles are hidden.
You can enjoy cycling around the reservoir and go as far as Austria (go along bike trail No. 48, for example). We should not forget about fishermen, they will be thrilled here! They can find the non-trout zone of the Vranov Reservoir and the trout zones of the Dyje River in this area.
The dominant feature of the reservoir is a white elevated walkway connecting Vranov nad Dyjí with a sandy beach. The local campsite is regularly awarded the title of the best campsite in the Czech Republic with regard to quality and scope of its services. It is loved by fans of yachting and windsurfing. If you do not have your own equipment, it does not matter, because the Vranov beach is prepared for this. Visitors will find rental of mountain bikes, paddle boats, electro boats, surfing equipment, a rope park and other adrenaline experiences. A kids’ corner will entertain your children with animation programs during holidays.
The western part of the Vranov Reservoir offers another sandy beach and a pebble beach in the so-called Bítov Cove. There is a charming cottage area with a well-equipped campsite and swimming pools hidden in beautiful forests in sight of the Bítov Castle and the Cornštejn Castle Ruins.
